Hello from David and Morgan! Vows to Voyage has not seen many posts this year, and that is mainly my fault.  We have been busy with our businesses, Lake House renovations, and just everyday life. I sat down with Morgan the other night, and told her that I really want to place more emphasis on our blog, building it and promoting it via various methods online, as well as building a Vows to Voyage brand. Of course, the business mind in me, wanted to make sure that we had a good mission statement and vision for the blog. The question was asked, what are we trying to do and accomplish with this blog and our Vows to Voyage brand? What makes us different than the other bloggers? For years, it has just been to capture our travels from year to year. Morgan is the artistic photographer and David is the numbers and logistics person. The tag line of the blog was “Living on love and Ramen noodles.” We sat down and fleshed out some ideas on how to improve and provide better content.

We decided that our blog and brand is going to be: A traveling couple who promotes transparency on finances and logistics for travelers with careers and families.

We want to build a brand that helps travelers in the 25-45 year old age range understand how real travel is possible on a budget. We are here to show the nitty gritty, the real numbers, the way we are able to take 15 day trips for $2500, all inclusive. We want to create real content that people want to read. I am probably like most Americans. I get on Instagram and Facebook, and browse all these cool travel accounts where the girls are beautiful, the guys have chiseled abs, they are on the coast of Bali eating fruit platters and drinking champagne while the sun sets. There are 1000’s of accounts just like this. Is this possible? Yes it is. Is it normal or what most people experience? No. How did they budget for this trip that looks like it just popped out of a Hollywood movie? It is just not reality. We are not the 20 something backpacker group living in hostels, and we are not the 55 year old couple that wants to book a Viking Cruise in the Mediterranean. We are the in between. We are young, and have many friends with young families that want to travel. We want to market to this group, but we want to do it in a transparent way that is not sugar coated with false pictures of what real travel not.

Morgan will still continue to post her beautiful photos and stories of our adventures beyond, and I will continue to post the numbers and plans on how we are really making our travel possible. We both have jobs, we have a mortgage, and many other responsibilities. We still make time to travel, and we can show you how to make it possible as well on very little money with your busy schedule. It just takes a little bit of effort, and a desire to travel.

We have some upcoming trips planned this fall and winter. Morgan is traveling to Paris in September, and we are looking at our 2 week trip plans for January. Countries on the list: Columbia, Indonesia, or Ecuador. Also, please check our travel account out on Instagram @vowstovoyage. Morgan will be posting content on her 9 day work trip to Paris.

Until next time,

David and Morgan
